Job Description - Patient Care Associate (Nrsg Coop) - White 9 | Medical Unit (3308813)
The start date for this position is December 30, 2024 and the end date is Friday, June 27, 2025. This nursing cooperative with MGH is exclusive to Northeastern University Nursing School Program students.
White 9 is a twenty-five-bed acute care medical unit. A majority of patients are admitted directly from the Emergency Department and have single or multi-system problems including alterations in gas exchange, airway clearance, cardiac function, renal function, nutrition, hepatic function, skin integrity, and mental states.
Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.
You are expected to be available to work during that entire time period.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current enrollment in Northeastern University Nursing School Program.
- Completion of the MGH PCA Skills checklist with at least one clinical rotation completed.
- HS Diploma required.
